Early in October 2008, the Connecticut Supreme Court made a verdict that ban on same gay marriage is a violation of the equal protection clause under the state constitution and it became the second state to give legitimacy to it. In April 2009 Iowa Supreme Court accepted it followed by Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine bringing number of states to approve gay marriage into six.
